There's one thing I've come to understand, mommy does not like anyone playing with her yarn in the closet. I cannot play with any yarn that is in the fabric hanging shelves, I cannot play with any yarn that fell on the ground anywhere, and I cannot play with any yarn that I pull out of her bag. But lately I noticed that she has been playing alot with her own favorite yarn that she leaves on the couch. She plays with two sticks as well as this certain type of yarn. Why is it okay if SHE plays with it?
I decided to try tossing this yarn around today while I was home alone this morning. Mommy would be out doing her exercise for a long time so maybe she wouldn't ever know that I touched it. I pat it around for a while but it didn't roll like the others. I dragged it around but the sticks kept catching on things and it wouldn't let me pull anymore. I got bored and left the yarn in the bedroom for later.
Mommy came home and didn't seem to notice her favorite yarn and sticks had moved, or was it that she didn't mind me playing with it?
As usual mommy went straight to her computer to work, and as usual I did what I could to steal a few minutes of playtime. But after hours of begging mommy to play with MY toys, I decided to bring a toy we both enjoy. I grabbed the yarn ball from the bedroom and dragged it right to her feet. She still didn't seem to notice me at all. I cried and cried for her to play with me and throw the new toy I brought for BOTH of us to have fun with. Finally, a few minutes later, she noticed my new toy but rather than throw it like I had hoped, she took it away and put both the sticks in the yarn! How can she turn away a perfectly good toy like this one? I guess I'll never understand.
Normally she'd get mad at me, but today she laughed at me for bringing her favorite yarn to play with. Though we didn't play with her yarn and sticks, I did manage to get a few minutes of her attention with my good ol' silent chirpy toy! It all worked out for me after all!
